Anastasia’s Gala at the Mauch Chunk Ballroom

Many of us can’t imagine what it must be like to loose a child.  I know I would want to just crawl and hide myself away from the world.  But that is not what the Susko family has done.  Instead, they choose to honor their daughters “bad ass” spirit and raise money to help those charities and organizations that helped Ana and her family during her battle with childhood brain cancer.  And so, on her birthday, her parents threw the ultimate birthday party that did just that.

Friends, family and locals that know the Susko family came out dressed to the nines and ready to tear up the dance floor at the Mauch Chunk Ballroom.  Proceeds from the ticket sales to the event , the silent auction and 50/50 raffle will all go to the Anastasia Susko Memorial Fund to create a scholarship for local girls that embody the same spirit that Anastasia had, as well as to Dream Come True and Angel 64.

When guests arrived, they were given the opportunity to have their photo taken, prom style, by Photography by Lynn who donated her services for the event as well as having contributed to the silent auction.

Of course no event is complete without some amazing music and DJ Joe Expo donated his services as well as up lighting (in Anastasia’s Blue Colors) to the event.

John Drury (owner of the Museum building) donated the space while the Ballroom’s event coordinator donated her time to run the room for the event and manage the staff.

I spoke to Anastasia’s dad during the event and he was just so overwhelmed with how supportive their friends, family and local community has been. He was grateful for their generous donations that helped make this event a success.
